2011 Meeting
This year, the Captains Breakfast was held on the morning of December 5 at Bingham McCutchen. Team captains representing more than 30 law firms gathered to discuss strategies to make Walk to the Hill 2012 more successful than ever. Greater Boston Legal Services Executive Director Jacqui Bowman discussed how the prolongued funding crisis has severely impacted advocates and clients.
EJC Legislative Committee Chair Sandy Moskowitz handed out 2011 Walk to the Hill attendance awards to the following firms:
• 1st Place: Ropes & Gray - 42 attorneys
• 2nd Place: WilmerHale - 41 attorneys
• 3rd Place: Nutter McClennen & Fish - 25 attorneys
• Nancy King Award (highest percentage of firm participation): Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi - 7 out of 15 attorneys

2011 Reception
On the evening of December 1, the following five legislators were honored with the Beacon of Justice Award at the 7th Legislative Recognition Reception at Davis, Malm & D'Agostine. They were selected for their outstanding support of providing access to justice for low-income Massachusetts residents with critical civil legal problems:
• Senator Stephen M. Brewer – Chair, Senate Ways & Means
• Senator Cynthia Stone Creem – Chair, Senate Judiciary Committee
• Representative Brian S. Dempsey – Chair, House Ways & Means
• Representative Patricia A. Haddad – Speaker Pro Tempore
• Steven A. Tolman – Former Senator & President, AFL-CIO
