WHEREAS, the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts states that all citizens should have equal access to justice through our legal system; and
WHEREAS, many poor people are denied equal access to justice because they cannot afford lawyers to help them navigate the complex civil legal system; and
WHEREAS, the Equal Justice Coalition advocates for civil legal services for poor people throughout Massachusetts, supports equal access to justice for all, and seeks to increase support and funding for civil legal services to meet the large and growing need; and
WHEREAS, this organization/individual is concerned with the needs of the poor and shares the belief that access to justice through the civil legal system should be equally available to all;
THEREFORE, be it resolved that this organization/individual supports state and federal funding for civil legal services and authorizes the Equal Justice Coalition to list this organization/individual as a member of the Equal Justice Coalition.
